Federal Government Benefits for Small Business Owners and Employees

…Learn how Section 3 provides incentives and tax benefits to business owners and/or employees,
and contributes to the establishment of stronger, more sustainable communities.

This event is designed to educate attendees on the various incentives and benefits of Section 3 of HUD  (Housing and Urban Development). This is NOT your typical government event – it is filled with solid information and resources for attendees.

An overview will be provided on:

  • Incentives for Business Owners
  • Incentives for Employees
  • Revenue Opportunities for Low-to-Moderate Income Businesses
  • Section 3 Opportunity Portal (and how to become self-certified and listed)
  • What are Opportunity Zones (and how do they benefit businesses and communities?)
  • The Role of Local Government and Municipalities

Who Should Attend?

  • Business Owners – learn the benefits and incentives in hiring low-income employees
  • Low-Income Business Owners – those whose income is considered low for the purpose of self-certification opportunities and benefits, whose business can then be added to the portal for government contracts
  • Government Contractors – those looking to provide awards to low-income business owners and learn to use the portal of self-certified low-income business owners
  • Awardees of Government Contracts – business owners who have received government contracts and want to provide sub-contract opportunities to those from the low-income portal
  • Local government and municipalities – your important role in supporting this program with local businesses and residents

This event is completely free to the public and registration is required from this site. There will be a good number of business resources and local government present at the event with information relevant and complimentary to the purpose of this initiative.  For specific information on Section 3 you can email Phyllis Hargrove at phyllis.a.hargrove@hud.gov.

Location: This event is held at the location of and in partnership with the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension. If you are traveling on the 215, take the Windmill exit off of  the 215 – we are located on the northeast corner of Windmill & Paradise, please see venue below for address and directions.
