There are lots of resources and directions to go as you start a new business. In order to be smart about the process, we’d like you to START SMART!
Anyone who is considering owning their own business, or has already opened one in the last year, is encouraged to invest 3 hours inside our classroom to learn critical first-step basics that will save you both money and time. Discover who your local experts are that are both legitimate non-profit agencies, and who offer their services at no cost to you. Follow up one-on-one counseling appointments are available to all who attend, at no cost. Gain essential knowledge you need as a business owner, for success. Agenda items include:

LOCATION: This event is in partnership with the Pahrump Valley Chamber of Commerce and will be held at their facility located inside the Nevada State Bank building, second floor, see full address below.
Al Parker has a broad background in Corporate America that includes management positions in sales, marketing, finance and business operations. He is presently a Business Development Advisor for the Nevada Small Business Development Center (NSBDC) providing technical expertise and training assistance to small businesses. He is also a Director for the Nye County Regional Economic Development Authority (NCREDA) where he serves as their President. Al is a Valley Electric Association (VEA) Ambassador and is the Vice Chair of the Ambassador Executive Committee.
His prior positions included Vice President, North American Sales, EOS Corporation, Director, Marketing and Sales, Oryx Power Products Corporation, General Manager, Power Supplies Division, Zenith Electronics Corporation, Vice President, Sales and Marketing, First Computer Corporation and Marketing Director, Cheshire Division, Xerox Corporation.
Al, along with his wife Vicky, opened A&V Printing, a quick printing business in a suburb of Chicago, Illinois. They ran this business for five years, before selling it. He likes to say that while he was thinking of this business, he had a very vested interest in writing the business plan for it.
In addition to his management experience, Al has an extensive background in part-time collegiate teaching and counseling as a business professor. He recently taught Applied Entrepreneurship at the University of Nevada Las Vegas. His previous teaching positions were with the University of Phoenix, Community College of Southern Nevada, DeVry University, Keller Graduate School of Management and Rochester Institute of Technology.
Al enlisted in the United States Air Force, after college, went to Officers Training School and graduated as a Second Lieutenant. He served as an Intelligence Officer for the 544th Aerospace Reconnaissance Technical Wing at Strategic Air Command Headquarters in Nebraska. He left active duty as a First Lieutenant.
He has a BS Degree in Business Administration from Syracuse University and an MBA from Creighton University. He is a member of Beta Gamma Sigma, National Business Administration Honor Society and is listed in Marquis Who’s Who in America.
