Argueta ADD\, U.S. Department of Labor\, Wage and Hour Division to discuss Family First Relief Act. \n  \n Sylvia Argueta is the Assistant District Director for the US Department of Labor – Wage and Hour Division\, Las Vegas District Office. She is entering her eleventh year of federal service with the agency\, having started her career in West Covina\, CA as an investigator\, eventually transferring to the Los Angeles District Office as the Community Outreach and Resource Planning Specialist.  Sylvia has worked on a variety of cases involving minimum wage\, overtime\, record keeping\, and child labor violations under the Fair Labor Standards Act. She has also conducted investigations involving other Acts enforced by the Wage and Hour Division such as the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA)\, Migrant and Seasonal Worker Protection Act (MSPA)\, Davis Bacon (DBRA) and the Service Contract Act (SCA). She has been the recipient of several Wage and Hour awards and regional recognitions throughout her career. Participants will learn the fundamentals of starting an online business and learn how to sell their products to new markets which is often a challenge for rural entrepreneurs. The course covers topics such as marketing\, branding\, pricing\, product photography and the technical process of opening an Etsy store. \nThe live virtual Etsy series takes place over four 2-hour sessions for a total of 8 hours of instruction. Participants will learn the fundamentals of starting an online business and learn how to sell their products to new markets which is often a challenge for rural entrepreneurs. To save yourself time and money\, we encourage you to Start Smart by attending this webinar on evaluating the potential of your idea before jumping into business. \nAnyone who is looking to start a business or has opened one recently is invited to attend this 90-minute virtual class on how to start your business off on the right foot. Attendees will learn about the critical first steps in starting a business and gain the knowledge they need to be successful business owners. Agenda items will include: \n\nIs entrepreneurship right for you?\nBusiness plan with a purpose\nWhat “problem” does your business solve?\nWho are your customers?\nWho are your competitors?\nWhat’s your industry?\nWhat are the risks?\nIs your idea profitable?\n\nPresented by: Jake Carrico\, Business Advisor\, Small Business Development Center\, and Tamera Brown\, Business Advisor\, Small Business Development Center \n\nJake Carrico has worked with the Nevada SBDC since 2013. He currently works out of the Reno office\, where he assists startups and existing small businesses with preparing business plans\, preparing financial projections\, buying and selling businesses\, analyzing their historical financial statements\, performing market research\, creating marketing strategies\, and navigating the startup process. Jake holds a BS in Economics and Finance along with an MBA from the University of Nevada\, Reno.\n\nTamera Brown has been a business advisor with the Nevada SBDC since 2010 and enjoys working with rural businesses and tribes. Tamera graduated with a MBA with a specialization in Marketing from Regis University in 2015. She possesses outstanding communication and organizational skills and enjoys collaborating with others to assist businesses. She is married with two daughters and two granddaughters in Colorado. When not counseling\, Tamera loves to garden and enjoys white water rafting.\n\n\n\n\nFunded in part through a Cooperative Agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration.
