It can be tempting to take a leap of faith and launch before vetting your business idea properly. To save yourself time and money\, we encourage you to Start Smart by attending this webinar on evaluating the potential of your idea before jumping into business. \nAnyone who is looking to start a business or has opened one recently is invited to attend this 90-minute virtual class on how to start your business off on the right foot. Attendees will learn abut the critical first steps in starting a business and gain the knowledge they need to be successful business owners. Agenda items will include: \n\nIs entrepreneurship right for you?\nBusiness Plan with a purpose\nWhat “problem” does your business solve?\nWho are your customers?\nWho are your competitors?\nWhat’s your industry?\nWhat are the risks?\nIs your idea profitable?\n\nPresented by: Jake Carrico\, Business Advisor\, Small Business Development Center and Tamera Brown\, Business Advisor\, Small Business Development Center \nJake Carrico has worked with the Nevada SBDC since 2013. He currently works out of the Reno office\, where he assists startups and existing small businesses with preparing business plans\, preparing financial projections\, buying and selling businesses\, analyzing their historical financial statements\, performing market research\, creating marketing strategies\, and navigating the startup process. Jake holds a BS in Economics and Finance along with an MBA from the University of Nevada\, Reno. \nTamera Brown has been a business advisor with the Nevada SBDC since 2010 and enjoys working with rural businesses and tribes. Tamera graduated with a MBA with a specialization in Marketing from Regis University in 2015. She possesses outstanding communication and organizational skills and enjoys collaborating with others to assist businesses. She is married with two daughters and two granddaughters in Colorado. When not counseling\, Tamera loves to garden and enjoys white water rafting. \n \n  \nFunded in part through a Cooperative Agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration.

DESCRIPTION:Presenter: John Rice\, Government Contracts Advisor\, Nevada PTAC (For information about the Nevada PTAC\, see its page: https://goed.nv.gov/programs-incentives/procurement-assistance-outreach/ \nThe presenter is a former contracting officer with the U.S. Federal Government. \n\nThe speaker will share publicly-available websites or tools that businesses can access for free.\nFederal Government contractors\, prospective federal government contractors\, etc.\, glean the sites or tools for valuable information\nCompanies gather the data for strategic and other purposes when pursuing lucrative contracts with a variety of government agencies\nThis specific webinar focuses on the federal government level\n\nWhere’s the Contract is a no-charge monthly training program designed to put Nevada businesses on the path to securing government contracts and diversifying revenue sources. \nThis procurement technical assistance center is funded in part through a cooperative agreement with the Defense Logistics Agency.\nThe Nevada SBDC is funded in part through a Cooperative Agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration. All services are extended to the public on a non-discriminatory basis.
