DESCRIPTION:Session #1\n2026-03-07\n10:00 AM\n– 4:00 PM (PST)\n\n\n\nSession #2\n2026-03-08\n9:00 AM\n– 12:00 PM (PDT)\n\n\n\n\n  \nNevada SBDC\, in collaboration with Travel Nevada\, is excited to announced the third annual Tourism Pitch Competition! \nThis initiative is designed to support rural tourism startups and existing businesses eager to expand their business models. \nProspective entrepreneurs will engage in a 2-day virtual workshop March 7th and 8th\, 2026\, followed by an opportunity to pitch live at Rural Roundup. The winner of the pitch competition will win $20\,000 to help kickstart their venture. \n  \nAmanda Elliott is a small business advisor with the Nevada SBDC and Executive Director of the Nevada Outdoor Business Coalition. She specializes in the outdoor industry\, marketing\, and branding. Outside of working with clients\, she thrives on learning new things and taking part in professional development opportunities. Since moving to Nevada\, Amanda has emphasized participating in public speaking events to further the Nevada SBDC’s mission and lift up entrepreneurs. In her personal life\, she is an outdoor enthusiast and spends her time hiking and rock climbing out in Red Rock NCA.

SUMMARY:Healthcare: Starting Your Private Practice and What You Should Know
DESCRIPTION:This training is designed for healthcare professionals considering private practice who want a clear\, honest understanding of what lies beyond clinical work. Participants will explore the healthcare-industrial complex and how it shapes care delivery\, autonomy\, and business decision-making. The session challenges common myths about healthcare entrepreneurship and addresses the realities that are rarely discussed in formal education. It also highlights the critical gaps in what professional training programs don’t teach about building a practice. Attendees will leave with a grounded perspective on what it truly takes to start an independent practice. This session is ideal for clinicians who want to enter private practice informed\, prepared\, and strategic. \n  \n\nDuke Nishimura\, BS ME/AE\, MBA\, LEAN\, CVC \nDuke’s experience includes serial entrepreneurship launching 21 companies\, CEO of 9 international companies in healthcare\, biotech\, and emerging technologies. Duke serves as strategic consultant for 25 years to C-Suites of over 400 public and private health systems\, hospitals\, group practices\, private practices\, and government healthcare administrations of the U.S.\, Canada\, and Japan. Duke’s businesses include a global healthcare company with over 120 clinics in 24 countries\, 129 articles in peer-reviewed medical/scientific journals\, 29 Randomized Controlled Trials\, and ongoing clinical trials with over 200\,000 patients obtaining over 90% success rates among severe chronic patients. Other businesses include a practice management company for orthopedic and neurosurgical practices with 50% higher reimbursement rates over industry standards; Provider of CME/CNE/CEU programs for medical professionals and insurance industries; and Speaker at various international\, national\, and regional medical\, scientific\, and healthcare conferences.
