Start Smart with Nevada SBDC!
With all the factors to consider when building a business, knowing where to start your planning isn’t always obvious. It can be tempting to take a leap of faith and launch before vetting your business idea properly. To save yourself time and money, we encourage you to Start Smart by attending this webinar on evaluating the potential of your idea before jumping into business.
Anyone who is looking to start a business or has opened one recently is invited to attend this 90-minute virtual class on how to start your business off on the right foot. Attendees will learn about the critical first steps in starting a business and gain the knowledge they need to be successful business owners. Agenda items will include:
- Is entrepreneurship right for you?
- Business Plan with a purpose
- What “problem” does your business solve?
- Who are your customers?
- Who are your competitors?
- What’s your industry?
- What are the risks?
- Is your idea profitable?

Jake Carrico has worked with the Nevada SBDC since 2013. He currently works out of the Reno office, where he assists startups and existing small businesses with preparing business plans, preparing financial projections, buying and selling businesses, analyzing their historical financial statements, performing market research, creating marketing strategies, and navigating the startup process. Jake holds a BS in Economics and Finance along with an MBA from the University of Nevada, Reno.
Tamera Brown has been a business advisor with the Nevada SBDC since 2010 and enjoys working with rural businesses and tribes. Tamera graduated with a MBA specialization in Marketing from Regis University in 2015. She possesses outstanding communication and organizational skills and enjoys collaborating with others to assist businesses. She is married with two daughters and two granddaughters in Colorado. When not counseling, Tamera loves to garden and enjoys white water rafting.
