ASD.me is a multi-state behavioral health group practice focused on delivering autism spectrum diagnostics through an AI-powered telehealth model. Founded by Michael Johnson, the company was created to address persistent gaps in access to timely, affordable diagnostic services—particularly for families in underserved or rural areas. Drawing on advances in artificial intelligence and telehealth delivery, ASD.me aims to modernize how autism evaluations are conducted while maintaining clinical rigor and compliance.
As the concept evolved, Johnson encountered several significant challenges. Navigating state-by-state telehealth compliance requirements added complexity, particularly as the company envisioned operating across multiple jurisdictions. In parallel, Johnson needed to secure early funding and clearly articulate the value proposition of an AI-enabled diagnostic platform to investors and partners unfamiliar with this emerging intersection of healthcare and technology.
To address these hurdles, Johnson worked closely with the Nevada Small Business Development Center, where advisor Karma Hunter provided strategic guidance. Through a series of business strategy sessions, Hunter helped refine ASD.me’s operating model, clarify its regulatory considerations, and align the company’s vision with realistic growth milestones. She also supported the development of a compelling investor pitch, ensuring the company could clearly communicate both its technological differentiation and its market opportunity.
ASD.me leveraged several SBDC-connected resources, including preparation for an AI Pitch Competition, introductions to key ecosystem partners, and structured go-to-market strategy development. These efforts culminated in ASD.me winning the $25,000 AI Pitch Competition award—an important validation of both the concept and its execution.
Today, ASD.me is building on that momentum, advancing toward national expansion and MVP development. With a stronger strategic foundation and growing visibility, the company is positioned to scale its impact while continuing to refine its technology and compliance framework.
